Gaana of the week (Tarkieb)
This song is from a very forgettable movie called ‘Tarkieb‘ that featured a whole array of stars in a whodunit murder mystery. But this post is about the song and not the movie, and therefore ladeej and juntalmen I give you, ‘Kis ka Chehra’. Shot on a very young looking Tabu and Milind Soman(now you know why women still swoon at his mention!) this song is backed by Jagjit Singh and Alka Yagnik on the [...]

Baba Bangali….
Dear Baba Bangali, Couple of weeks ago we successfully raised our voice against a popular south-indian actress. The protest deeply cut through media while people stood up and took notice of our activities. After having announced our arrival we are now looking for another issue so that we are not skirted away by the media. We seek your blessings, and direction as we scout for the next celebrity-award-function. Your ardent devotees, Hindu Makkal Katchi (HMK)

Ad of the week (Bramhaputra tea)
Brahmaputra Tea advert during SRK’s early days in the industry!.I must confess, I do not remember having seen this ad. Leave a comment if any of you have any memories. Wonder what would happen if you ask someone for ‘Assam ka amrit’!…

Gaana of the week (Woh Lamhe)
‘Tu jo nahin hain’ was eclipsed by the super duper ‘Kya mujhe pyaar hain’ sung by KK for the film ‘Woh Lamhe‘. I don’t say that Pritam is a great music director but even Anu Malik churns out his best for the Bhatt stables. This song wasn’t again part of the promos and featured in the beginning of the movie along wit h the titles. It’s a possible chance that may have even missed it [...]

Gaana of the week (Jhoom Barabar Jhoom)
‘Bol na halke halke’ was probably one of the most underrated and forgotten songs of 2007. Brilliant vocals by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Mahalaxmi Iyer but with the film(Jhoom Barabar Jhoom) sinking at the box office and the absence the promos, this song is unheard by many. Check this space every weekend for more rare/nostalgic songs.. Lyrics below dhaage tod laao chaanadani se noor ke ghoonghat hi bana lo roshani se noor ke sharm [...]

Ad of the week (Mayur Suitings)
This new section will feature the ads we grew up on, some very famous some long forgotten. Let me kick of with my namesake ‘Mayur Suitings’. SRK made this ad jingle very famous and there was a time in school when people addressed me by the jingle.(Still unable to figure if it was out of affection or sarcasm) Check this space for more ads every weekend!

Another birthday gone…….
The year 2007 has been a good one, Much better than the previous years on the personal front I must add. Every field has its own share of moments be it Cinema, Cricket, Politics or anything else. I would prefer not to belittle them by attempting to summarize any, but would prefer to reflect on the year from a personal front. I resumed blogging after a six-month hiatus and it had to start with a [...]
