myself being an IIt student.I can say u rabsolutely wrong…ragging is even worse than this in IITs and even the professors too…we were made to drunk alot n the very 1st day at IITD and were beaten,we were made to go nude and dance wildly…u jst knw the level…projects work are even bad than this and u cnt say anything abt love…it may happen any way anytime…

Well they had to pander to all the commercial elements, but I liked the connects to college life and saw a part of me in there. But i however do agree to what you said here.

I think you’ve been a little kind to the movie. Aamir did not look young enough to be a college-goer in DCH, and it has only gotten worse now. It gets a little preachy here and there. The shadows of Munnabhai are extremely strong. Stupid slogans getting half-dead babies to come to life is ridiculous.
The acting is definitely pretty good. The ending is ok…
They have copied the book to a large extent as far as the college life is concerned except that in the book, the three idiots so to speak actually all do pretty bad at IIT. It is a little silly to watch Aamir question the system while performing so well in it. (which is unlikely unless you’ve crammed too)
All in all, due to the holiday season, the movie can be given a free pass on goofiness.

I haven’t read the book, but all i can say is that Chetan Bhagat isn’t this smart. Pretty sure they just took the basic premise.
