Review: Desi Boyz – Chitrangadha Singh is a wooomaaaan

I had begun to write a review for Desi Boyz even before I watched it. I just had to cross check if it was as I predicted and add some things that I missed. Well I hope I hadn’t watched it for what I had written earlier was far sweeter than what is about to follow. There was a horrible movie called Deuce Bigalow which later spawned an even horrible sequel. Looking back I feel [...]

Aaj mausam bada beimaan hain

I know what you’re thinking, and your bewilderment is well justified. We don’t quite often talk about so-called serious issues like climate changes but then we’ve done some mildly serious stuff in the past like this and this, they’ve been well received. Now this goes without denying the fact that it will get us some traffic, but people looking for serious stuff will return disappointed. Unless of course someone is looking for how the climatic [...]

Review: Kambakkht Ishq – No Mangalam Here

The past fortnight has been a lot hectic with a lot of action going on personally and professionally. Reminds me of the old Asian Paints ad ‘Naya Ghar, Nayi Biwi, badiya hain‘. People have their own ways to celebrate certain occasions, some throw a party, some hog till the end of time, some visit a place of worship [...]

Review: Singh is Kinng – Better seen on trucks

‘King se maut bhi aise darta hain jaise piracy se Bollywood‘. When a movie opens with such a cheesy line, you go and pull the flush in your head to wipe out all the hype and hope you’ve had. The only reason I sat through this movie was for a glimpse of the damsel on your left and the histrionics of the man they now call ‘Hit Machine‘. It seems to be a trend amongst [...]

Maal kaalchur and no thunder

Heard in a famous mall in Chennai (At Lifestyle) Girl: I love Puma, It’s so very European you know… Boy: (blank expression) (At Van Heusen) Another Girl: Only my man can wear pink (Hands her boy-toy a pink shirt) Another poor guy: (blank expression) I generally don’t eavesdrop and snoop around coochie-coo couples but this was more like in the face. I fail to understand this so-called-maal-kaalchur and therefore we goto our resident genius philosopher [...]

Gaana of the week (Jaaneman)

Jaan-E-Mann was a very different film and told in a very novel fashion. The use of colour and visuals is very impressive though the plot seemed cliched. The movie suffered more than it should have for being pitted against SRK‘s ‘Don‘ for a Diwali/Eid release. Anu Malik however did a good job with the music dept and the movie is remembered for Akshay Kumar‘s comic timing. This song in particular stands out for me and [...]
