  Another beaten to death formula film of a lone cop fighting a crime lord. Throw in the much needed sister sentiment and estranged siblings separated at childhood. What are we missing? Oh yea a leading lady, and for that we have the voluptuous siren Anushka. Couple of well oiled(literally) scenes, item songs and fight scenes later this Gopichand starrer finally grinds to a halt.

• Welcome to Sajjanpur 6/10

  A simple and sweet story of the denizens of Sajjanpur woven by the master story teller Shyam Benegal. Amrita Rao looks cute and SHreyas Talpade brings up another pleasing performance. The only flaw could be the use of too many characters and their stories which seem half baked. Benegal tries to touch upon a lot of issues like a eunuch fighting an election, widow remarriage or the superstition of marrying a dog. Nevertheless a pleasing watch if you have a good grasp of Hindi, for it's pure form the heartland. Extra star for the 'Ek Meetha Marz dene' song!

  The name originally is the south indian version of Ludo and hence the game is used in the promos as well. Its good to see a new breed of directors who seem to have faith in the story and screenplay rather than depend on a stars brandpower and fanbase. Ashta Chamma is one such pleasing film that is funny, smooth and seems like a next door story. No extravagant sets, imaginary dream sequences, hundred back up dancers or foreign locales. Shot on a shoestring budget it makes for pleasurable viewing. It is the second surprise hit for Swathi after the hard hitting Subramaniapuram. The cast is fresh and bubbly and suit their characters, slihtly cliched end but then decent overall.
